How to warm, hold, and freeze-protect tanks and vessels of any size — when a stock drum or tote heater won’t reach.
Drums and totes have standard sizes, so standard heaters fit them. Tanks and vessels don’t — they come in every diameter, height, and shape. When you need to warm product, hold a process temperature, or keep a tank from freezing, a fitted heated jacket is what wraps the vessel in even heat.
The bigger and more exposed the tank, the more this matters: a large outdoor tank loses heat fast, and uneven or spot heating leaves cold zones where product thickens or freezes.
Be clear on the job. Freeze protection just keeps the tank above freezing with low, steady heat. Holding a process temperature keeps product at a specific working temperature. Warming brings a cold tank up to temperature and then holds it. Each is a different amount of heat — and the right jacket is sized to it.
Sensitive product raises the stakes: food-grade, chemical, and high-value materials need even, controlled heat with no hot spots — exactly what a full-coverage jacket delivers.
The failure mode with tanks is uneven heat — warming one side while the other stays cold, or scorching product against a hot spot. A jacket built to the tank’s dimensions spreads heat around the whole surface so the contents warm evenly.
Insulation matters too: on a large or outdoor tank, an insulated jacket holds the heat in and keeps the heater from fighting the wind and cold all day.
Tank heating comes down to the tank’s size and surface area, the temperature you need, and the conditions it faces. A small indoor process tank is a modest ask; a large outdoor storage tank in the wind is a much bigger one. Getting the wattage and coverage right is the difference between a jacket that holds temperature and one that never gets there.
